Rahul Gandhi regarding alleged voter fraud in Haryana’s 2024 Assembly elections, along with the official response

Rahul Gandhi Alleges ‘Operation Sarkar Chori’ Behind Haryana Vote Fraud

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the BJP and the Election Commission of orchestrating a “centralised operation” of voter fraud in Haryana, claiming that around 25 lakh fake entries were created to prevent his party’s victory despite exit polls predicting a Congress sweep.

Speaking at a press conference, Gandhi said a covert plan, dubbed “Operation Sarkar Chori” (Operation Government Theft), was launched to manipulate the election outcome. He alleged that the manipulation extended beyond individual constituencies, describing it as a “state and national-level operation.”

Gandhi claimed over 5.21 lakh duplicate entries, 1.24 lakh voters with identical photos, and instances of voters being registered in both Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. He also displayed what he described as a Brazilian model’s image allegedly used multiple times across 10 polling booths, symbolizing large-scale tampering with voter lists.

The Congress MP accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of “protecting those destroying Indian democracy” by refusing to disclose details related to the alleged deletion of voters’ names in Karnataka’s Mahadevpura Assembly seat. “The Election Commission is now working in partnership with the Prime Minister and Home Minister,” Gandhi charged, calling the system of “vote theft industrialised.”

Earlier, on September 1, Gandhi had warned the BJP of a coming “hydrogen bomb” exposé on voter fraud, saying the Mahadevpura revelations were “just an atom bomb.”

He further alleged that CCTV footage was being destroyed and that the voter lists were released at the last minute to prevent scrutiny. Gandhi also invited voters from Bihar’s Jamui district—whose names he claimed had been deleted—to come forward, asserting that “the same system will be used in Bihar next.”

Backing Gandhi’s allegations, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray said the issue transcended party politics and concerned “the value of every Indian’s vote.” “Once again, Rahul Gandhi has exposed the Election Commission’s fraud that helps the BJP capture states via vote theft. The world is watching how our elections are no longer free and fair,” Thackeray posted on X.

However, the Election Commission of India rejected Gandhi’s claims as “incorrect and baseless.” EC sources noted that no formal appeals or objections were filed by Congress booth-level agents during the voter list revision. “Why were no claims and objections raised by INC’s BLAs to avoid multiple names?” an official asked.

Despite the denial, Gandhi reiterated that the integrity of India’s democracy is at stake, insisting that “this is absolutely clear proof of what the BJP is doing — and the EC does not want a fair election.”
